A Successful Personal Branding Checklist

During my last year in degree, I have observed my interests and skills based on my various experiences. Based on the observation, I developed personal branding because I think that it is vital to show and promote myself for the opportunity of my future career. Find out a checklist for a successful personal branding with me!

1. Find your interests

Before developing my skills, I tried to find what I am interested in. I wrote things down on a mind map. My interests include videography, photography, content design, journalism, styling, and visual merchandising.

2. Set your goal/Decide your career

Based on your interests, you can set your goal or decide your future career. Through this process, you can choose which skills to obtain your goal or career and your interest. You do not have to include all of your interests in your goal or career. For my future career, I consider a stylist, a marketer, or a visual merchandiser.

3. Develop/Improve your skills

After setting your goal or deciding your career, you should develop your skills. You can create works to prove your skills. I have produced 12 portfolios during the last year in degree. I focused on developing my skills to fit my future career. I designed lookbooks, made styling videos, and created a window display.

4. Figure out your SWOT

While improving your skills, you should develop your SWOT analysis. A SWOT analysis includes both the internal and external factors that can affect your goal or career. My strengths are photography, videography, content design, and styling that are my vital skills. My threats are graphic design, writing, and communication skills. Opportunities are that millennials like to see photos and videos than to read. Also, more celebrities and people look for their stylists. Threats are that more people learn photography and videography, and there are already many professional people.

5. Build your communication platforms

For the ultimate checklist, you need to have your communication platforms to share your works. Through the platforms, you can show your work to the public, get feedback, and find out things to improve. I created a website and an Instagram account to upload my blog posts and portfolios.

Now all the preparations are ready. Start building your branding and share your great works!
