Based on a color palettes S/S 2021 released by WGSN, there are two groups of colors: ‘artificial hues’ and ‘enhanced naturals.’ Artificial hues consist of colors with a strong, unnatural intensity that are designed for a digital age such as oxy fire, purple nitro, and marmalade. Enhanced naturals have the imperfect look of natural dyes that look softer than those of artificial. Based on the two color palettes, a core color palette is developed consisting of the bedrock tones which are used to design trend-driven products as neutral tones have come back to trends. Let’s find out the different usages of these color palettes.
First of all, neutral colors will be widely used for fashion items such as tailoring and casual wear as they are getting popularity. For S/S 2021, neutrals will become warmer compared to S/S 2019. Secondly, a mix of natural and clinical greens keeps its pace at retail due to increased popularity over natural hues. Also, pales will be the new pastels and will be used for high-summer occasionwear. They go well with cool modern blues. Lastly, more intensified high-summer colors will be ideal for high summer and used for overall fashion items all year round.
