On 2nd March, I volunteered for ‘Eco Bank’ bazaar with my classmates, which we planned since January. Eco bank is an annual zero-waste initiative by City Developments Limited and Eco-business. On 31st January, we went to a warehouse at City Industrial Building to help to classify and to organize second-hand items which many people sent to the warehouse. The staff said those items would be sent to be sold. While organizing, we chose some clothes and accessories for styling, which was a part of the eco bank project. On 14th February, I took photos with my teammates wearing those items we brought from the warehouse to show how we match the clothes and accessories nicely. With the pictures, we made a lookbook to be used for the event.
The day before the event, on 1st March, we went to City Square Mall, which is the first eco-mall in Singapore at Farrer Park MRT station. We spared an hour to set up and display a booth to sell items that we used for styling. On the day, we gathered at 10 am in front of the booth, and started to communicate with visitors and sell items. Eco bank also threw a fashion show during the bazaar with second-handed clothes or materials re-designed by a designer from Fashion Pulpit. During the event, I found that more people visited than expected, and many of them are interested in and conscious of sustainable fashion. For me, it has been an excellent chance to think about sustainability as a future fashion marketer and to know that many consumers would like to support sustainability.
